BRIEF EXPLANATION

In order for rust to form, free electrons, moisture, and oxygen must be present. If any of these elements are missing, rust cannot form. The free electrons are negatively charged, so the strong positive charge on the anodes causes an attraction of negative free electrons away from the vehicle, and the anodes now corrode instead of the vehicle. This reduces the rusting process on the vehicle.​
